Custom Service Dog Training in the San Francisco Bay Area

Custom Programs to Achieve a Trained Service Dog

A canine companion is a wonderful thing to have in your life. Still, for those with disabilities, a service dog can mean the difference between being homebound and being active in their community. They are a true lifeline in every sense of the word.

At By the Bay Dog Training we train service dogs to reach their full potential and enabling their owners to live more independently. These canine sidekicks provide medical, physical, emotional, and mobility support for handlers of all ages, which means they require professional and compassionate training to give them the best start in their careers.

We ONLY provide training for psychiatric and mobility assistance service dog needs.

Service dogs are not emotional support animals, or therapy dogs. Service animals are trained in obedience training and task training for a specific medical reason. Not ALL dogs breeds are suitable for service work.

Financial Assistance May Be Available

Eligible veterans, service members, and military families may qualify for financial assistance through Semper Fi & America’s Fund to help with the cost of service dog training and care.

Funding is based on eligibility and is not guaranteed.

Public Access Training & Foundation Task Training

The list is extensive of the tasks that service dogs can accomplish for their handlers. Some of the more impressive ones include:

  • Retrieving medication
  • Support for mental health and psychiatric needs
  •  Providing deep pressure therapy

Every person has a unique lifestyle that a disability can hinder. A service dog can be your bridge to a fulfilling, safe, and confident life in the community. These impressive canines have to be calm, confident, and focused in any environment and situation to keep their handlers safe and independent.

Psychiatric Service Dog (PSD) & Mobility Support Foundations

Tailored training programs should be unique to you, your needs, and your pup. We work closely with both owners and canines to help them build their communication skills, confidence, and reliability as partners.

Some other kinds of tasks that service dogs can help with include:

  • Opening fridges, drawers, and cabinets.
  • Picking up and retrieving dropped items.
  • Guarding a person’s blind spots in crowded areas to help mitigate PTSD triggers.
